Edmonton – Morinville sent seven teams to the 3-on-3 tournament in Edmonton over the June 8 weekend: six representing the Morinville Road Runners and one from Morinville Community High School.

After round robin play, four teams remained to play in the finals. Three of those teams played their hearts out, only to lose in overtime. Road Runners coach Sertge Froment said it was difficult for the teams as they have become accustomed to success wherever they play. The Under 11 Girls’ team, led by Laura Stalzer, Brooke Froment, Madisen Sampson and Jenna McKinney, finally broke through winning in overtime by a final score of 8-6.

They were each awarded a championship t-shirt and the team received a $100 gift certificate to Boston Pizza to help celebrate their win. “Each player had a blast and renewed their love for a sport that is growing in Morinville and around the world,” Froment said.
