Mobile access makes booking campsites in Alberta Parks easier

by Morinville News Staff

Many of Alberta’s provincial park campgrounds can be booked through Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca (RAP) on the via smartphones and other personal devices. RAP makes it easy to change a campsite booking, extend a stay or reserve their next camping trip.

“Albertans love to use our provincial parks and with the new improvements to the RAP website, it will be much easier to get outside and explore Alberta’s great outdoors,” said Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks in a release Monday.

New system features include a more user-friendly and interactive design that will give campers more access to information for trip planning and sharing of information via social media. Users can also search campsites by map, nearest community or campground.

The government said 2016 bookings (as of May 12) are six per cent higher than in 2015. More than 55,000 reservations have already been processed.

To book a campsite, group camping area or comfort camping unit through a mobile device, just go to the Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca website, search and book a spot.

Alberta Parks is encouraging Fort McMurray wildfire evacuees to access free camping options through its contact centre by calling 1-877-537-2757 and not the RAP mobile feature.
