Jets corral Mustangs on the road

by Morinville News Staff

The Morinville Jets returned from a mid-week road trip Wednesday night with a 6-2 victory over the Edmonton Mustangs. Wednesday night’s win adds another two points to the club’s successful season.

Eighteen games in finds the Jets with a 10-4-4 record and a second place seating in the Capital Junior Hockey League’s West Division.

Adding to the success, the Jets have two players in the league’s top 10: Tyler Hagel in the second spot with 40 points and Brett Duboc in the seventh slot with 27 points.

Wednesday night’s win was built heavily in the final frame. Tied 1-1 at the end of the first, the Jets built to a 3-2 second-period finish before packing on another three while corraling the Mustangs completely in the third.

The Jets play at home on Saturday night this week when they face the visiting St. Albert Merchants. Game time is 6 p.m.
