MCHS Grade 10 student Sofia Soria entered three pieces of art into the ACACA Northern Alberta Art Show.
Her John Lennon piece won the top award in its category.
Two out of the three were chosen to move on to the Alberta-wide competition show which will be held in July in Drumheller ( John Lennon and Elders Wisdom). From there it will travel nationwide.
Soria’s art piece – Elders’ Wisdom – was previously chosen as the cover art for the Greater St. Albert Catholic School’s District booklet Journey in Education for Reconciliation.
The art was produced last year in art class after hearing a poem by Alexander First Nation Elders Edna and Ella Arcand.
Some of Sofia’s art will soon be on display at Higher Grounds as well.
