The Town of Morinville has collaborated with the Musée Morinville Museum, Morinville Historical and Cultural Society Celebrate Culture, Morinville Art Club, Morinville Community Library and the Government of Alberta to offer the community free Alberta Culture Days online activities featuring local history, culture and art.
Morinville History & Culture Video Series
Every Friday in September, a new video featuring history and culture will be viewable at museemorinvillemuseum.com (1 video per week). The community can view the weekly videos and enter to win an Alberta Culture Days gift bag featuring items from local vendors.
Take & Make Art Bags with Livestream Instruction
Community members can visit the Morinville Community Library or Musée Morinville Museum to pick up a FREE Take & Make Art Bag* which contains all supplies necessary to create a weekly art project. They can then follow along with livestream instruction on Fridays at 10 a.m. on the Morinville Art Club Facebook page to make their art project. Art instruction will also be posted on the Morinville Art Club Facebook page for alternate viewing. Community members can pick up a new Take & Make Art Bag each week. *One Take & Make Art Bag per person, per week, while quantities last. A supply list will also be posted for each of the art projects.
“With the event restrictions currently in place, we are thrilled to be able to partner with great local groups to provide free digital and hands-on experiences for the community to enjoy local culture, history and art in a safe way. We really hope the community takes the opportunity to join in!” Kathleen Ducharme – Event & Culture Programmer for the Town of Morinville.
Alberta Culture Days will be celebrated from September 1 to 30 in Morinville. Complete event details can be found online at morinville.ca/ABCutlureDays2020.
