PSA: LAV III Monument to be unveiled Sunday and include a fly pass by 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron.

Members of the public, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces and veterans are invited to the Grand Opening Ceremony of the LAV III (Light Armoured Vehicle III) Military Monument presented by the Rotary Club of Morinville Sturgeon on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 1 p.m. beside the Morinville Leisure Centre located at 25126, Hwy 642.

WHAT:  Morinville will be home to the only LAV III monument in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, and one of only five in Alberta.

WHEN: Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: The event will be on-site at the LAV III, directly beside the Morinville Leisure Centre located at 25126, Hwy 642. Parking is available at the Morinville Leisure Centre.

WHO: Dignitaries will include Gord Putnam (Rotary), Dale McNally, Associate Minister of Natural Gas and Electricity, Colonel Rob McBride, Commander, 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton (Edmonton Garrison), Mayor Alanna Hnatiw (Sturgeon County) and Mayor Simon Boersma (Morinville). The master of ceremonies for the event is Lieutenant-Colonel (retired) Malcolm Bruce, CEO of Edmonton Global.

WHY: The monument will be a permanent place of pride and remembrance of the contributions of our military, past and present.

Special Notification: We have confirmed a fly pass by 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. The helicopters will be flying at a height of 500 ft over the ceremony and Morinville/Sturgeon area. The fly pass will occur between 1:00 p.m. and 1:10 p.m.
