The Morinville Jets fell 5-3 to the visiting Stony Plain flyers Sunday night, their second loss in as many outings.
The Jets started their evening strong enough, outshooting the Flyers 12-7 and capitalizing on two of those chances to lead the period 2-1.
But fortunes were reversed in the second period, and the Jets found themselves trailing 4-3 heading into the final frame.
The last 20 minutes were not to be the Jets. The Flyers added one to make it 5-3, and even pulling their goalie in the closing minute did not give the Jets the two they needed to push it to over time.
Sunday’s loss brings the Jets to a 2-2-0 record this season.
The Jets play the Sherwood Park Knights on the road Friday night and return home to face the Beaumont Chiefs Sunday night at 7:30 p.m.
