Jets one for two over the long weekend

The Morinville Jets extended their losing streak to three straight games Friday night before reversing their fortunes at home Sunday with a 7-3 win over the visiting Beaumont Chiefs.

The Jets entered the weekend 2-2-0 but fell 7-4 to the Sherwood Park Knights. In that outing, the Jets trailed from the start. Hitting the middle frame with a 3-1 deficit, the club found themselves trailing 5-3 after two and, despite narrowing the gap by one early in the third period, let two more in to close the day with a 7-4 loss.

Sunday night was a different matter.

The Jets came out strong in the first period, ending the frame up 3-1 over the Beaumont Chiefs. After another 20, both sides had doubled their previous tally – The Jets scoring another three to the Chiefs’ one. Leading the day 6-2, the Jets pocketed their seventh early in the period after Beaumont scored their second.

Friday’s loss and Sunday’s win bring the Jets to a 3-3-0 record this season.

The Jets hit the road Friday to face the Spruce Grove Regals and return to the Landrex Arena in Morinville for a Sunday night matchup with the Edmonton Mustangs at 7:30 p.m.
