Fillies open their season with an exhibition game

The newly minted Sturgeon Fillies female hockey team played their first game on home ice on Sunday, Oct. 9 at the Morinville Leisure Centre’s Landrex Arena.

The home opener appropriately coincided with World Girls Ice Hockey Weekend.

Although the Fillies battled hard, they came up one short, losing the opener 3-2.

We’ll have more on the Fillies as their season unfolds, but for now, here are some submitted photos of their opening game.
