Jets maintain top spot in West Division

Morinville – Sunday night’s 4-1 victory over the Stony Plain Flyers (0-9-1) provided the Morinville Jets with another two points on their road to league dominance. With an 8-2-1 record this season, the Jets are currently positioned in the top slot of the Capital Junior Hockey League’s West Division and tied for second place in the league overall.

The Jets picked up one power play goal early in the first period, followed by another three even strength goals in the same frame. Despite a total of 50 shots on Stony Plain’s net, the Jets were unable to capitalize on any of their 36 chances during the second and third periods.

The Jets take to the road for a midweek game Wednesday, facing off against the 4-6-0 Edmonton Mustangs. The club follows it up with a trip to Wetaskiwin Sunday to take on the 6-4-0 Icemen. The Jets next home game is Nov. 1 against the Beverly Warriors (6-3-1). Game time is 8:30 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
