Morinville RCMP make immediate arrest in armed robbery

submitted by Morinville RCMP

Very shortly after the RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed robbery, they had a 55-year-old male suspect arrested and in custody without incident.

At 8:20 a.m. this morning the RCMP was dispatched to an armed robbery that had just occurred at a local hotel. A lone, masked male brandished a knife at the staff and demanded money. The male made off an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

Responding RCMP members located the male and through investigation determined that he was the suspect involved. He is currently in RCMP custody and awaiting a release hearing. The name of the suspect cannot be released as charges have not formally been sworn at this point.

The staff at the hotel were not injured during this incident.

Editor’s Note: RCMP have not disclosed the location of the hotel or the town in the Detachment and we have not been able to contact RCMP for details.
