Road Runners honour their coach

Submitted Photof

St. Albert – The Morinville Roadrunners Midget Girls basketball team honoured their coach during a game in St Albert Saturday. The player’s all wore pink socks to the game in memory of coach Serge Froment’s mother, Francoise, who passed away from cancer a few months ago.

Froment is well loved by his team and the team’s parents. The Midget Girls remain undefeated for the past two-and-a-half years. Seems like the team is pretty unbeatable in other ways as well.

Sturgeon Hockey Club – Player of the week

Kessa Wasmuth – More than just a hockey player!

In her first year of hockey, Kessa cracked the lineup for the Initiation 1 team. Her smooth stride and knowledge of the game made it an easy choice for the coaches to place her on this team.

Not only is Kessa the only first year hockey player on the Initation 1 team, she is also the only female! This alone makes her more than just a hockey player!

Kessa is never fazed in the dressing room or on the ice with 14 boys, and it is impossible to catch her without a big smile on her face. She always works hard at practice, and is constantly trying to improve. She is very deserving of being named the Minor Hockey Player of the week. Way to go Kessa!

  1. I can’t tell you how fortunate I am to experience my life with these players and their families. I feel selfish sometimes for how much I get back from them, I can’t thank the VanBrabants enough for organizing this in memory of my mother. My mother always went out of her way to do things right and to surprise you with that extra effort. The pink socks representing the memory of her will not be forgotten and were a wonderful surprise. Thanks again from my family and I, you make my life better.

  2. I cannot express in words how much my daughter and my family have gotten out of being a part of this club. The friends she has made the lessons she has learned far exceed the game of basketball. Serge is an exceptional role model and mentor for these girls and our gratitude for all of the time, effort and love he and his entire family put into the Roadrunners cannot ever be repayed!
