Fish and Game Association gathers for auction and awards … and good food

awards

The Morinville Fish & Game Association held their annual Brag Night Dinner and Silent Auction Saturday night at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. The sold out event mixed a buffet dinner that included moose, elk, bison, salmon, turkey and unique combinations of venison cooking styles with a silent and live auction, the latter a major fundraiser for the local outdoors group.

A highlight of the annual event is the presentation of club awards.

This year’s recipients included Miles Allan who won the Club Appreciation Award, Barry Luopa who took the Adult Walleye award, and Justin Lunn who took both the Adult Whitetail trophy and adult bear trophies. Other award winners were Justin Rosychuk for the Youth Whitetail award, Adam Bochar for the Novice Hunter, and his sister Anastazia Bochar for the Youth Pike. Shari Wallace won the club’s photography award. Absent for photos was Quinn Stevenson for the Adult Moose Award and Wayne Bhnisch who shared the Club Appreciation Award with Miles Allan.

In addition to the banquet and awards, participants had the opportunity to bid on more than 200 silent and live auction items, as well as enter a number of raffles and draws. Although a final tally was not available by press deadline, the monies raised assist the Morinville Fish and Game Association with ongoing projects inside and outside the community.
