The Junior B Jets and Senior AA Kings took to the ice over the weekend with minimal results.
The Jets were first to hit the ice over the weekend, taking to the road to face the Stony Plain Flyers. After 60 minutes of ice time, the Jets brought home their third straight loss, this one a 5-3 deficit. Both clubs were scoreless in the opening frame Friday night, and the Flyers built their win with 3-2 and 2-1 ratios in the second and third period.
The Ray McDonald Sports Centre played host to back-to-back King and Jet games Sunday. The Kings took on Big Valley, and the Jets faced the Wetaskiwin Icemen.
The Kings and Big Valley were scoreless after one. Though the Kings trailed their opponent 3-1 at the end of two, a series of three goals for the Kings put them to a 4-3 lead with roughly 12 minutes left in the game. But another two from Big Valley reversed their fortunes to a 5-4 loss for the Kings.
The Jets hit the ice against the Wetaskiwin Icemen right after the Kings and lost 6-4, giving them their fourth consecutive loss.
The weekend’s efforts bring the Jets to a 4-7-0 record this season. The Kings stand at 1-2-0.
The Jets have two games this week – a road trip Friday night to face the Regals and a 6:45 p.m. match-up with the Bruins Nov. 1. The Kings hit the ice once this week, hoping to spook Slave Lake at 8 p.m. Halloween night.
