In a unanimous vote after only minor tweaks, Council has unanimously adopted their 2016-2018 Communications Strategy, as prepared by Administration, particularly Corporate Communications Coordinator, Felicity Bergman.

Council had previous viewed and provided input on the plan at a past Committee of the Whole meeting.

The document reviews how communication is dealt with both involving Town staff and Council, and in Bergman’s report to council, she noted that the plan is not expected to cost any more than was already budgeted for communications by the Town. Any additional expenses that are required would come back to Council. Bergman also noted that the plan in many ways just captures what the Town has already been practicing regarding communication strategy.

Located in the plan is the goal of having either video recordings of Council meetings posted online for the public to view and/or livestreaming all Council meetings for the public to watch live at home. There are no included timelines in the plan for the completion of this goal, but Bergman noted at the meeting that it is possible that audio recordings of Council meetings may be posted online ahead of the completion of the goal to video record the meetings.
