Sturgeon Hockey Club hosting comedy night fundraiser

by Stephen Dafoe

Sturgeon Hockey Club’s Mustangs and Fillies programs will benefit from a comedy fundraiser at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre on Friday, Nov. 18.

The event features a standup comedy show by ABC comedy, DJ, and a midnight lunch.

“It’s been quite a few years since Sturgeon Hockey Club has hosted a fun night out for hockey parents and community members,” said Ways and Means Director Donna Hanssen. “We are excited to bring it back with a performance from three comedians from ABC Comedy, followed by Your Friendly Neighborhood DJ Mike Palma, and an original painting done at the event by Louis Lavoie that will be auctioned off when completed.”

Sturgeon Hockey Club is hoping to pack the facility for the comedy and other entertainment.

“Who doesn’t want to have some laughs and have a fun night out with friends? Even better, one that is in our own backyard,” Hanssen said. “I feel that quite a few people are excited to get out and enjoy events such as this again post-pandemic, and we are just as excited to host it.”

Tickets for the event are $30 per person and are available on Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/shc-comedy-night-tickets-416412610327
