Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after Friday collision

Morinville – A 54-year-old Calgary man was airlifted to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2 and Cardiff Road Friday evening. Morinville RCMP, Morinville Fire Department and EMTs were called to the scene during the evening rush hour at approximately 5:12 p.m.. Morinville – Motorists travelling south of town on Highway 2 have a new land marker in their peripheral vision: a full size airplane elevated 20 feet off the ground. The plane not only provides an interesting addition to the landscape in front of Syd and Nettie Spiker’s property in Sturgeon County; it serves as a fully functioning weathervane. But there is more to the plane than merely marking the entrance to the Spiker home or marking the direction the wind is blowing. Sometime between 2 p.m. May 20 and 10 a.m. May 21 an unknown person or persons took 600 bushels of Canola from a farm located on Township Road 245 in Sturgeon County. The Canola was loaded into a truck using the farm’s grain auger, already under the bin. The complainant noticed a suspicious tandem axle grain truck in the area during the same time frame.
