Sturgeon County – After several months of searching, recruiting and interviewing, Sturgeon County Council has ended up with a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) who has been performing the job in an interim capacity since November of 2011. Sturgeon County – Morinville RCMP are investigating the discovery of what is believed to be human remains. The RCMP Detachment was contacted by a surveyor Wednesday morning advising he had discovered what he believed to be human remains in a field in Sturgeon County.

Sturgeon County – A mid-morning fire Tuesday destroyed a tin barn at the Smokin’ Elk Ranch just outside Morinville and caused an estimated $600,000 to $700,000 in damages. Crews were called in from Morinville, Sturgeon County, Legal and Namao to combat the fire.

Morinville – Westlock County Councillor Maureen Kubinec ensured Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock remained in PC hands Monday night after garnering 45 per cent of the vote. Kubinec received 7,447 votes, 341 more than Wildrose candidate and former Alberta Report publisher Link Byfield who received 7,106 votes (43 per cent) in the constituency.
