Watching the bucks
Sturgeon County Peace Officer Ken Lauinger presented Sturgeon Rural Crime Watch President Roger Nykipilo with a $1,000 cheque at the crime watch organization’s Annual General Meeting held Tuesday night at the Provincial Building. More than 20 members and guests were in attendance for the election of board directors, discussion on the funding required for various programs which included DARE
and the bicycle rodeo, volunteers required for the various Zones and the 30th anniversary celebration to be held May 4 at the Rendez-Vous Centre. It was also mentioned that the new Morinville RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sgt Thomas Love would be arriving from Fort Vermillion sometime in May. The Detachment is also in need of guards for the prisoners. – Lucie Roy Photo

New garden crew
The Morinville Centennial Community Garden Society held their General Meeting on Tuesday at the Library. The Election of Board of Directors was held with Petrina LaRocque elected as Vice-President, Gail Blank as Treasurer, Valerie Loseth nominated President by acclamation, Judy Carver as Registrar. Not shown are Alberta MaCaulay, the new Secretary and Angela Duckworth the PR Coordinator.

The Community Garden is about to embark on its third season – the second with two community garden locations.
