The Town of Morinville is extending the deadline for this year’s Tour de l’Alberta until Aug. 5, and have been actively promoting the event in the hopes of getting more riders.

Global Edmonton’s Morning News featured an interview with Tour de l’Alberta Organizing Committee members Schaun Goodeve and Felicity Bergman July 24.

The Town says registrations have been “flooding in” for the Free Family Fun Ride (roughly 15km) 50km, 100km, or 160km distances.

“This event is truly geared for individuals young and old, as well as those with varied cycling abilities,” said Tour de l’Alberta Committee Lead Goodeve. “This event is a great opportunity for friends and family to enjoy the great outdoors together and perhaps simultaneously challenge themselves to something different.”

The event takes place Aug, 9 with the start and finish at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. Various courses will take in Legal, Westlock, Prairie Gardens and Edmonton Garrison.

Currently, there are 650 riders registered for the 50-km, 100-km, and 160-km rides, and another 45 set to take part in the Family Fun Ride.
