Each Division of Sturgeon County as well as the mayor’s seat will be contested according to the names put forth on Nomination Day on Monday. The results are considered unofficial until noon on Tuesday.
Running for mayor are incumbent Tom Flynn and challenger Alanna Hnatiw.
Division 1 will see incumbent Ferd Caron challenged by Dan Derouin.
In Division 2 Susan Evans is beign challenged by Rudy van Woerkom
Division 3 is a three-way race with incumbent Wayne Bokenfohr being challenged by former Councillor Ken McGillis and Matthew McLennan
In Division 4 Neil Comeau will challenge incumbent Jerry Kaup.
The biggest contest is in Division 5 with incumbent Patrick Tighe facing opposition from
Frank Klassen, Jacob Middelkamp, Maxwell Power, and Vicki Zinyk.
In Division 6 Marty Derouin and Charlaine Pasemko will take on Karen Shaw for the seat.
A Sturgeon County All Candidates Forum is planned by the Chamber for the Gibbons area on Oct. 4 at the Gibbons School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the forum runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
A second Sturgeon County All Candidates Election Forum will take place Oct. 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Cardiff Community Hall (55320 Range Road 251, Sturgeon County.)
