After back-to-back exhibition wins over the Devon Barons, the Morinville Senior AA Kings started the 18-game North Central Hockey League 2016-2017 season with a road trip win over Slave Lake Saturday night.
The Kings built that win steadily over three frames with a 3-0 lead to end the first. Though the Winter Hawks answered back with two in the middle frame, the extra four the Kings netted gave Morinville a 7-2 lead heading into the final 20. The Kings kept Slave Lake scoreless while pocketing two for themselves to finish the night 9-2.
The club plays their home opener Saturday night at 8:30 at the Ray McDonald Sports Center. They will face NCHL newcomers – the Eckville Eagles.
