Morinville and District Chamber of Commerce has new board

Morinville – A mixture of new and old faces are now at the helm of the Morinville and District Chamber of Commerce. The business advocacy group held its Annual General Meeting at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre Wednesday afternoon to install its new board.

Assuming the role of Chamber President is Pleasant Homes co-owner Simon Boersma, a businessman who served as vice president last year. Second in command is Infinite Event Services owner and Morinville Town Councillor Sheldon Fingler, a man who has served as both vice president and president in the past. Replacing long-time Chamber Treasurer Paula Hittinger is Charlene Whitfield, owner of Blind Designs. All three of the executive were elected by acclamation… […]

Collision scenario drives impaired driving message home

Morinville – High school students were given a real-time demonstration of the dangers of drinking and driving Tuesday afternoon. Sirens screamed through the streets behind Morinville Community High School (MCHS) as police, paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of one teenager and sent three others to hospital with undisclosed injuries. One student actor was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with impaired driving.

The only upside to Tuesday’s student tragedy is the fact the deceased took off the theatrical makeup and walked away, the injured students will returned to class uninjured, and the impaired student’s charge was purely for show… […]
