The Morinville Community Cultural Centre will kick off its fifth LIVE at the CCC performance series Sept. 26. Half a decade into bringing entertainment to Morinville it is no surprise that Cultural Services Coordinator Laurie Stalker sees this season as a magical time. It is also no surprise that the first show of that magical season is a magician. Sheldon Casavant will open the season with his entertaining and interactive show Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by Morinville Sobeys, offers families an affordable afternoon of entertainment. Realtors go from reality TV to TV reality to take up Caribean Life

Local realtors Don Summers and Doris Jolicoeur will soon be leaving Morinville after 20 years for the warmth and beaches of St. Lucia. The Professional Realty agents were featured on HGTV’s Caribean Life last spring as they looked for a property on the island. That goal and dream is now a reality as the couple recently got a purchase agreed to.
“We have a deal. We have funds to our solicitor,” said Don Summers, adding the deal is set to close Sept. 14, and the couple are planning to be on the island in mid-October.

Holmes new principal at Morinville Learning Centre

Morinville Learning Centre’s new Principal Thomas Holmes said there were lots of students attending the centre this year.

“We have students that are in High School that are upgrading classes, taking course work here because traditional classroom setting is not best for their learning,” he said. “This could be students that want to go through a course faster than they might otherwise in a regular classroom.” […]

Architects will design full facility, steering committee confirms

The Town will undertake a six-stage process for the proposed multi-use recreation facility planned for east of town. That was the word from Town of Morinville CAO Debbie Oyarzun in her presentation to Morinville Town Council in their role as steering committee during a Sept. 1 meeting.

The six stages encompass the Pre-Design, Conceptual Design, Schematic Design, Detailed Design, Construction Documents, Procurement and Construction, Post-Construction and Administration of the new facility. […]

Morinville resident Noreen Radford is back as board chair of Greater St. Albert Roman Catholic Separate School District No.734. The board held their organizational meeting Aug. 31, a meeting that included an election for Board Chair and Vice-Chair for the 2015-2016 school year.
