Council to appoint new mayor in August

Morinville – The mayoral vacancy left by the passing of Morinville Mayor Paul Krauskopf will be filled later this summer. In a 3-2 decision Thursday afternoon, Council moved in favour of having Deputy Mayor Lisa Holmes continue in the acting mayor role until Council’s next regular meeting Aug. 27. Councillors Gordon Boddez and Sheldon Fingler opposed the motion by Councillor Nicole Boutestein, preferring instead to appoint a new mayor now.

Gibbons inviting region to celebrate its past

Morinville – The Town of Gibbons is rolling out the relics and the red carpet next weekend for three days of family activities. The Town will hold its annual Pioneer Days July 19 to 21, and organizers are hoping those outside the community will come and check the festival out.

Morinville Best Gardens Competition looking for gardening excellence

Morinville – Local gardeners have a week left to register for the Town of Morinville’s Annual Best Garden Competition. Once again this year judges will be looking to reward gardeners for the design and maintenance of their gardens and they are planning to hit yards Jul. 25.
