The bleachers were full for four straight days at the Ray McDonald Sports Center for the Hockey Alberta Atom AA Provincials. Nine teams joined the host Sturgeon Hockey Club Mustangs. Pool A included Sturgeon, Cold Lake, Olds, Sylvan Lake, and SWZ. Pool B included St. Albert, Chestermere, Strathcona, Okotoks, and Glen Lake. The games took place in Legal as well as Morinville.

Twenty-eight years after Novice hockey player Dennis Blair Borduzak passed away, his memory is kept alive through a memorial tournament now in its 20th year. The annual 4 the Love of the Game Tournament skated off in Morinville and Legal Thursday afternoon, bringing together more than 300 players and 35 teams for a full weekend of hockey action.

Sixteen Novice teams from as far away as Bonnyville and Camrose hit the ice over the weekend for the 19th Annual Dennis Blair Borduzak Memorial Tournament, three days of hockey with the motto: Play Fair — Play Hard — Play Real. The annual 4 the Love of the Game Tournament is dedicated to the memory of Dennis Blair Borduzak, who passed away following his Novice year of hockey in 1989. The tournament’s theme – 4 The Love of the Game – is an homage to Dennis Blair Borduzak’s number 4 jersey number.
