Boddez appointed Morinville mayor

Morinville – The community has a new mayor, at least until the next one is sworn in after the Oct. 21 election. Councillor Gordon Boddez was appointed mayor Tuesday night during the Aug. 27 meeting of Morinville Town Council. He fills the mayoral vacancy left by the June 30 passing of Morinville Mayor Paul Krauskopf. After beign appointed mayor, Boddez was sworn in and resumed his regular Council seat and not the chair reserved for mayor.

The discussion was the first order of business at Council’s Aug. 27 meeting. Deputy Mayor Lisa Holmes took nominations from the floor and Councillor Sheldon Fingler put forward Boddez’ name. Boddez was appointed mayor with a unanimous vote of Council… […]

Boutestein looking for a second term

Morinville – A love of community and a love of the job she’s held for the past three years are prompting Councillor Nicole Boutestein to seek a second term on Morinville Town Council. She says she does not consider herself a politician and has no intention of ever becoming one. Rather, the life-long resident of Morinville sees herself as someone elected by voters to do a job. She is hoping those voters will elect her to that job once again this fall.

“It is a job. It’s a full-time job,” Boutestein said, adding she puts in about 40 hours each week. “It is a job I have to say I really love. I get up in the morning and I’m happy to go to work.”… […]
