The 2014 MCHS Track & Field Team sent 30 athletes to the Zone Meet at Foote Field in Edmonton May 22 and returned with 22 medals. Ottawa – Wheelchair Basketball Canada announced May 22 that Legal resident Arinn Young had been named to the Canadian Senior Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball Team for the 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship. Morinville – Sirens screamed through the streets behind Morinville Community High School (MCHS) Wednesday morning as police, paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of two teenagers, sent another to hospital, and saw a fourth charged with impaired driving. MCHS students show off their SKILLS

Morinville Community High School sent two competitors to this year’s Skills Alberta competition held May 14 and 15 in Edmonton. The annual competition pits the province’s best students in a number of trades and skills against one another in a two-day competition. Alyson Benson is competing for the third time in the Graphic Design category and Samantha Ringuette will represent the school in Photography for the second time. Trail planting helping eco system along Little Egg Creek

Morinville – A work bee along Morinville’s trail system earlier this week will provide improvements to the drainage ditch behind Sunshine Lake, according to Joel Gervais, an associate researcher in Biological Sciences at NAIT. Gervais was in Morinville working with Town of Morinville staff and students from Morinville Community High School to plant some trees and fruit bearing plants June 17.

Gervais and his helpers believe planting the trees in the riparian buffer between the trail and drainage ditch, known outside the community as Little Egg Creek, will improve the ecosystem of the area by providing shade to encourage wild life… […]
