Morinville — Voters will have four options for mayor this election. The close of nomination day saw papers filed by incumbent Councillors Lisa Holmes and Sheldon Fingler as well as Christa Naughton and Carrie Foss.

Morinville – The close of Nomination Day Monday saw 17 residents filing papers for six Council seats, a number seven higher than the 2010 race and 11 higher than 2007’s acclaimed Council.

Morinville – If Sunshine Lake resident Cliff Haryett has his way; photo radar will be a thing of the past in town. Haryett is looking for 900 signatures for his petition to abolish photo radar in Morinville and intends to have all the signatures within 45 to 60 days.
“It’s all over safety,” he said. “They are trying to sell us photo radar and [I take issue with] their lack of transparency and their collecting money versus public safety. Morinville – A local businesswoman, substitute teacher, community volunteer and mother of two is running for a seat on Morinville Town Council. Jackie Luker, who ran in the 2010 general election and 2012 by-election, is taking another crack at a seat on Council.
“It’s just a desire to be part of that whole process,” Luker said of running a third time. “I want to make a difference from what I can do. I have a very strong belief in what community is.
