Morinville Community Library reflecting on its first half century

Morinville Public Library opening on Mondays for July and August

The Morinville Public Library Board is pleased to announce the library will now be open seven-days-a-week over the next two months, thanks to a $4,500 grant awarded by the Town of Morinville Council (effective July 4).

Since January 2016, the Morinville Public Library (MPL) has been closed on Mondays due to insufficient funding. The grant awarded to MPL will cover the costs associated with operating on Mondays for the months of July and August.

Public computers, photocopiers, movie licenses, and coffee supplies are just a few of the things the Friends of the Morinville Public Library have been able to gift the library through fundraising.

Morinville Town Council approved the appointment of three new trustees to the Town of Morinville Library Board Nov. 13. Sturgeon County resident Amy Guenette and Morinville residents Stacy Buga and Barb Haberer were approved by Council and now bring the library board’s number to 10 trustees, the maximum number allowed under the province’s Libraries Act. ..
